Ghost and the Darkness
On my first ever game drive in South Africa, after the sun had set, as I was making my way back to camp, I happened upon this glorious male lion, my first African male lion, sleeping on the side of the road. As I approached, he lifted his head to acknowledge my presence and treated me to the sounds of his majestic roar which resonated through every cavity in my body. I was told that this lion was a part of a three lion coalition. He was alone because he had injured himself while he and his brothers were trying to bring down a buffalo.
