Description
In a small village in Rajasthan, I was called upon by a friend to do some sleuthing. Something was lurking in his fields that was taking away dogs and goats, but steering clear of humans. As with all my wildlife reconnaissance trips, I set up cameras in the most obvious spots; animal trails, waterholes, etc. but I always make sure to set one camera up which would make for a great picture but with slim chances of any animal actually showing up there. This, I call my bonus camera. On every other camera I found not one, but three leopards, living their best leopard lives – it was fantastic! My bonus camera had nothing and I was losing hope of being able to get anything on there. Regardless, I left the camera up for a week and on the morning I was supposed to leave, I went to collect it. When I approached the camera, I found that it had fallen over, which diminished any hopes of any usable photos. In my frustration, I was about to format the card in the camera, but I am so glad that i checked before I did, because this was the picture waiting for me!
