It was an incredibly overcast morning in Masai Mara, when Olonkera and his brother took down a wildebeest. I came upon them taking a nap a few hundred meters away from each other with Olonkera keeping a sleepy eye on their prize kill. I decided to move on to look for other things and when I came back in the afternoon, the clouds had all but vanished and Olonkera driven by his urge to protect his kill from hyenas and other scavengers decided to stay out in the open where there was no shade to protect him from the relentless sun. As the heat started to get to me, I decided to take refuge in the shade. As the sun was beginning to set, the clouds started rolling back in and I decided to check on Olonkera, one last time. Just as I approached him, he sat up and I was able to take this picture. One of my most favourite pictures from my maiden trip to Masai Mara.
